TORONTO-Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff believes his party has momentum after wrapping up the first two weeks of campaigning.
He said he’s sensing a lot of enthusiasm at campaign events among Liberal supporters and expects to make some gains on the May 2 election.
“The Liberal base is back,” he said Saturday. “(There is) a passionate feeling among Liberals (that) we’ve got to get rid of this (Conservative leader Stephen Harper) guy.”
Ignatieff campaigned in the Toronto region on Saturday, stopping first at the campaign office of Liberal candidate Mario Ferri, to serve some hot dogs and rally the troops.
Ferri is running against Conservative incumbent Julian Fantino who won the Vaughan riding in a by-election last fall.
