WINNIPEG-For the first time in four days, Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff spent an evening without telling people to “rise up.”
Ignatieff and his wife Zsuzsanna Zsohar were celebrating a Passover seder at a banquet hall with incumbent Liberal MP Anita Neville and a few dozen people, who were mostly part of the Liberal candidate’s extended family.“For the duration of the meal at least, there will be no need to rise up at any point,” said one man at the table, drawing some chuckles from the others. “We can start again with that tomorrow and carry on.”
The Liberal leader has turned the two words into a new slogan in recent days for his campaign, urging Canadians to “rise up” against the government led by Stephen Harper on the May 2 election day.
Ignatieff was expected to make an announcement regarding flooding in Manitoba on Tuesday morning before heading to the Toronto region for an interview and a rally around candidates in the hotly-contested Brampton area.
